The cold air unit is one of the main components used in the air conditioning pack for environmental control system of aircraft. This provides the cold air to cabin cockpit and Avionics compartment. This cold air unit is designed developed manufactured and tested for one of the aircraft platforms.
The cold air unit is designed using an air cycle machine technology. The cooling turbine assembly consists of an axial fan impeller and a turbine wheel with matched exducer mounted on opposite ends of a common shaft. The shaft rotates in spring-loaded annular ball bearings. The axial fan impeller is enclosed by an inlet assembly and the turbine wheel is enclosed by a scroll assembly.

The main function of the cold air unit is to cool the charge air coming from aircraft engine and use to cool the cabin.
